Important Map Rules Clarification

I'm sorry to inform that some of you seem to have ignored the recent rule changes. I write this post to clarify my previous on the map subject. We have changed the rules and the only time a game is considered to be a valid ladder game is if it uses the official map update.

This is now reflected in the rules and here are the rules that now apply and the sections in them that were changed:

v0.16 (4 November 2008).

  1. a) In the case where the development version is used all official 2 player maps associated with the specific game version and that come with the game are allowed if they're made for a 1vs1 common game duel. This means that survival maps are not allowed and neither are the following maps: Wesbowl. b) If you however use the stable version of the game then you have to use the update version of the official maps. You can do this very easily by just visiting the add-on server from within the game. When doing so you'll see an amazing list with extra content created by the great Wesnoth community. Among this content you'll find and entry called Map Updates by Doc Paterson. That's the one you'd want to install. Once done you're all set for new challenging ladder games.

  2. Only the current stable and development versions of Battle for Wesnoth for your plattform are legal for you. Always make sure both you and your opponent use the same version before the game begins to avoid all kinds of trouble.

The above is not "optional". It is also not something you can agree with your opponent to dismiss even if you both would like to do so. The above is what goes for everyone on the ladder. Take it or leave it. If you continue to use the not-updated-maps then you are risking a ban and/or the removal of your reported victories. If you can't follow these simple rules then please find another community to bother.
